History of Building
La Vista West Elementary School, home of the Wolves, was approved as part of an $800,000 bond issue in 1963 to serve the growing community in the western part of La Vista. Proudly displaying maroon and gold as its colors, the school has played a crucial role in the community for decades.
Since its establishment, La Vista West has undergone several renovations and updates to keep pace with evolving educational needs. A significant renovation took place in the mid-2000s, updating facilities and adding new learning spaces to enhance the educational environment for students.
The Wolf mascot, symbolizing teamwork, loyalty, and strength, reflects the school's values and its commitment to fostering these qualities in its students. La Vista West Elementary embodies the district's vision to "Be Known for Greatness" through its pioneering inclusive education practices and strong community involvement.
As part of the 2018 Bond project, La Vista West received further improvements, including safety and security upgrades, additional classrooms, and kitchen expansion. These enhancements have further modernized the school while maintaining its commitment to providing an excellent and inclusive educational environment.
Through its long-standing presence in the community, continuous improvements to its facilities, and dedication to inclusive education, La Vista West Elementary continues to play a vital role in the Papillion La Vista Community Schools district. The school remains committed to preparing all students for future success while fostering a strong sense of community and belonging.
